Your presentation on how communication can kill employee engagement was excellent. I think there’s a lot of people who could use this content. What really stuck with me is that I need to be clearer in my communication instead of using vague requests like, “Whenever you have time.” I also need to make a better effort to meet people where they are on the communication preferences side of things.

Julia, I enjoyed your insights into communication pitfalls, cost of miscommunication, and ways to provide inclusive communication. Thank you for a great session!

I really enjoyed the training and that is not typical for me.
The communication preferences/needs is so important and something I have told so many people over the years. I think it’s finally getting traction and that makes me happy.
The personal stories are what makes it in my opinion, and that you are not rehearsed sounding. Changing it up and low amounts of words on the slides are great ideas for keeping it fresh and not sounding rehearsed. Because then I have so many other places to go off to in my head.

I really like the presentation on how communication can impact engagement, and the fact that you talk and engage with your audience instead of just reading from a screen. The final recap really stuck with me. Thank you for sending those slides – I’m going to post them up at my desk!

I liked your presentation on how poor communication can impact performance, and I appreciate you including me. I thought you did a really good job speaking, and I feel like you connect with the audience with your examples, stories, etc. What really got my attention was the need to be more intentional with our communication, like making sure someone knows that they are not only invited to the conversation, but that their contribution is wanted and valued.

Lisa T.

I really enjoyed your presentation today. It was informative without being boring. Sharing your experience and information about your life made you very relatable and relevant. I came away with a much better understanding of the struggles that other people experience because of our individual differences. A+

Tanya A.

I thought your presentation on communication was great! I liked how interactive it was along with personal life stories to better understand the information. The slides were very easy to follow. I think that this information would help a lot of leaders communicate with their employees. I am going to be intentional about being more forward if something isn’t clear – and to ask questions!

Sarah R.

The generational differences was a big one for me, especially in my line of work. Meeting different generations where they need to communicate is important. I'll be considering the ways different generations prefer to communicate in my interactions with clients moving forward and try to keep that front of mind when I do so.
Something else I really liked was how the action points were so, well, for lack of a better word, SMART (ie. SMART goals) - specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely.
My favorite part of it all wasn't the content though. I really connected with the presentation because of your delivery. You're a relatable presenter, which made this feel easily attainable.
I really struggle with public speaking and being authentic to myself while doing so. Watching you present made that feel more attainable for me, in addition to my takeaways of actual content.
